Soil Conservation
- Windbreaks: Barriers of trees and other vegetation that surround a field and reduce the impact of strong winds on the soil.
- Contour Farming: Crops are planted along the natural contours of the land instead of artificial rows, helping protect against erosion by water.
- Terraces: Land is divided into series of level platforms for farming, allows for water to drain from the soil.
- Strip Cropping: Crops are planted in alternating strips to reduce soil erosion with a physical barrier that slows the flow of water.
- No-till: Crops are planted straight into the soil without tilling it first, elimates erosion due to tilling.
- Cover Cropping: Fast-growing crops that are intended to protect the soil that can add nutrients and make the soil more fertile.
